Artist Statement:

As a global citizen, I am inspired by my varying surroundings and complex interactions. As an artist with synesthesia, I base my artistic approach on feelings, energies and rhythms and find myself drawn between the organic and the organized. I achieve this state through the construction of many layers in a lengthy process, which I overlay with rhythmic geometry, often calming repetitive patterns. I build up material, scrape back and carve into it. I compose abstract pieces in mixed media, mostly encaustic wax and pigment, ink and oil paints. These materials and the processes involved allow me to create art in a fulfilling way. The action of making art is equally important to me as the finished piece. My intention is to create aesthetic harmony and I hope for the viewer to connect to my pieces emotionally as much as visually.
